Why?

I've been interested in the vast wonders of Africa for many years, since there's scarcely a more exotic and mysterious continent out there. Of course, I've mostly become attracted to the landscapes, cultures, and histories of northern Africa, especially Egypt, because the very beginnings of civilization have been traced there.

There is no other place I'd rather visit than a beautiful, lush oasis in the middle of endless stretches of sand and sunshine. And that specific place would be...the wonderful Sahara! What really caught my attention and made me decide to complete my mini research project on it was the track "Sahara" by the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish in their new album, "Dark Passion Play." This was actually their third song dedicated to Egypt and the rest of Africa (the previous two were "Tutankamen" and "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion"), but "Sahara" captivated my interest far more, so here is my little website inspired by the song.

Of course, I've never been to Africa (and consequently not the Sahara either), but sometime if I'm ready for a real nice tan I just might. :)
